Not everyone will feel comfortable with this, I get it. I was the same originally, but just hear me out….because this is completely ethical to do!

Using other people’s/creators content for your own posts on social media can be a powerful way to grow your own following, and it is completely ethical to do so.

I have been using and playing around with this strategy in the last 6 months, and it has been nothing short of EPIC in terms of results…

Don’t get me wrong, some posts are hit and miss…but right when you are not expecting it, you will hit that golden post that propels your page and boom, it snowballs from there.

I should add, that the majority of success I have had has been on #Facebook but you can use this strategy for any other platform.

Check out the below results from a local company in #Bendigo that we have been working on, these results were from only 3 days ago (at the time of writing this!)

The important trick here to do though, is not to just share content. You want to actually repurpose it as your OWN, then tag the original creator.

I recommend using video content for this. So first of all, get the post link of the video you would like – it doesn’t matter what platform it is on – then head to #google and type in the platform followed by downloader. So for example, Instagram Downloader.

There are tonnes of free downloaders out there, you just have to search Google. I use Snap for mine – so for #tiktok it is SnapTik, for Faecbook it is SnapSave and so on.

It will convert your video to an MP4 and from here you then want to upload it as your own and add a short line which ties the content in with your brand. Then, it’s really important to credit the original owner. If you downloaded the video from Insta but are uploading it to #linkedIn then I usually say Video Credit to XXXXX on LinkedIn etc.

Why I recommend doing it this way and not just sharing it to your page is for the simple reason that if that post goes well, then people are likely to share it themselves. But now when they share it, it will have YOUR company name on it. Not the page name of the creator where you are sharing it from.

Go back to the image I shared above, in the second image you can see there are currently (at time of writing this!) 1764 shares – that is 1764 people who have an interest in the niche of the account where the content is that have shared the post to their own page. Thats 1764 pages that now have the brand name of the page you are wanting to promote…can you see how this can quickly snowball? And the best part, it’s all free traffic.

The biggest results I have seen using this strategy is over 700k views, tonnes of shares, comments and engagement, and we were able to grow this particular account to 6.5k targeted followers JUST from one post.

What you cannot do when using this strategy is to make any claims or insinuate any alliance with the original creator. So for example, the post above was a post of a little girl who is playing with two massive Goliath Bird Eating Spiders – this is for a Pest Control Company in Bendigo.

We couldn’t then say that the said company treated the person’s home or that they had seen it on a job, or that the original creator came to them with a spider problem.

As long as you credit the original owner, you can share whatever you like – DISCLAIMER – I am obviously NOT a lawyer, so please do seek your own advice.

Another benefit of sharing other people’s content is that it can help you reach a wider audience by tapping into the other creators audience when you tag them. That is why it is important to be really strategic when choosing what to share.

When you share content from other people, you are exposing your followers to new perspectives and ideas. This can help you attract new followers who may not have found your content otherwise. And it also helps the original creator also as your audience is being exposed to their content

Sharing other people’s content can also help you improve your own content. When you see what content is resonating with your audience, you can use this information to create content that is even more relevant and engaging. You can also learn from the best practices of other content creators, which can help you improve your own content.

When choosing what to share, you obviously want to choose something within your niche but who isn’t a competitor, and choose something that has decent viral exposure but isn’t overly huge yet. Views anywhere from 30k – 100k seem to work best we have found. Anything too big and the #algorithm is bored of it and tends to not favour ot as much IF you have missed your opportunity to share it earlier on.

The last tip I will give you is to use a clever hashtags and keywords. If your content does go viral, it means that you are then more searchable on Google for those search terms for that social media post – which is what organic marketing is all about. Pretty clever hey? We go alright at Abundant Life Studio…just sayin’!

To sum it up, sharing other people’s content on social media can be an absolutely stellar way to grow your own following.

By sharing relevant, entertaining and interesting content, you can establish yourself as an authority in your niche, reach a wider audience, and improve your own content.

So, don’t be afraid to try this strategy, it’s a win-win situation for both you and the person you are sharing from!
