GENERATE LEADS FROM SOCIAL MEDIA – B2B OR B2C

Love it or hate it, you cannot deny that social media has revolutionised the way businesses can connect with potential customers online.

With millions of people using platforms like #Facebook, #Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, #socialmedia has become an important tool for lead generation. In this article post, we’ll explore how you can leverage social media to generate leads for your business consistently.

First of all, you don’t need the biggest following online, but you do need to be active when you are using social media for lead gen. Reason being, if you are aiming to attract potential leads, then they of course are going to check your profile or page out. If it sucks and has no recent content, not set up properly or has inappropriate content, then you will be met with crickets.

Think about your social proof – this goes for both you personal profile and business pages – is it aligning with your business?

Once you have made sure your profile or business pages look schmick (and not like a fake account with no content or value…), you can then start the lead gen process.

Below are my best tips to help you get started –

Define your target audience

The first step in using social media for lead generation is to define your target audience. Who are you trying to reach? What are their needs and interests? Once you’ve defined your target audience, you can tailor your social media strategy to meet their needs. You are better to target super specific niches that have less search volume. Less search volume, more conversions because it is so targeted and specific. For example, if you are in the fitness niche, don’t just target ANYONE related to fitness, niche it right down…instead target ‘women over 50 fitness plan’ etc.

Choose the right platform

Not all social media platforms are created equal. You need to choose the right platform for your business. For example, if you’re targeting professionals, LinkedIn is the obvious choice. If you’re targeting a younger audience, you might want to focus on #Instagram or #TikTok. I generally say to stick with #B2B on #LinkedIn, and #B2C on most other platforms, although this can cross over slightly. I have had a business take our services on from seeing my own personal TikTok account, whereas generally on TikTok I am #marketing to my B2C’s.

Create valuable content

To generate leads on social media, you need to create valuable #content that your target audience will find interesting and engaging. This can include blog posts, videos, infographics, and more. Your content should showcase your expertise and demonstrate how you can help your audience solve their problems. Always focus on 70% educational/value based posts, 15% lifestyle (behind the scenes, meet the team etc) and 15% results/testimonials. Then spread these 3 content pillars up between video, text based posts, GIF’s, polls, carousels, or single image to give your audience a variety

Engage with your audience

I cannot stress this enough! Engagement is the biggest factor to attracting leads online! Social media is ALL about engagement. You need to actively engage with your audience by responding to their comments and messages, asking questions, and initiating conversations. This will help you build relationships with your audience and establish trust.

Use the tools provided by a social media platform to find your audience

Social media platforms offer a wealth of tools and resources to help businesses identify and connect with their target audience. One tool I recommend is the audience insights feature, which provides detailed information about your followers and potential customers, including demographics, interests, and online behaviours. By using this information you can tailor your content and messaging to better resonate with your target audience and increase engagement and conversions.

You can see the example below from LinkedIn (most platforms have a similar tool like this). I typed in ‘director’ as I want to connect with business directors, then click on ‘people’ to filter out the leads. You can even then after that select location to narrow it down even further.
